“Your soul is the most intimate part of you, and it isn’t found by running away... In a time of crisis, the impulse is to go into emergency mode, fear, concern and panic. Giving in to those impulses will engender an epidemic of soul sickness.”
-Deepak Chopra
Covid-19 has torn this world apart in many ways, bringing travesty and destruction to every country it has touched. However, with many countries feeling the worst of it may be over, the harsher of the lockdown measures are being lifted gradually in places like the U.K.
Nonetheless, being cooped up for so long has been harsh on the spirit and has made many people feel disconnected with themselves and the Universe.
So, here are my top tips for staying spiritually sane coming out of lockdown!
1. Uncertainty and anxiety are easily harboured when so much conflicting information and advice is circulating. But there are many things you can do to possibly alleviate the stress:
Ø If you read tarot, consult your cards with any questions you might have. They will always have an answer for you, though they may hide it well beneath tricksy interpretations and difficult cards!
Ø If you have spirit guides, check in with them. They will likely know exactly what you need to help you feel at peace.
Ø Meditation and breathing techniques have been proven to help you to settle your thoughts when they’re driving you up the wall.
Ø Positive affirmations every morning will start your day the right way – with positivity! Even if it feels a little forced at first, it will eventually feel natural with practice. And they can be vague if you need them to be. For example: ‘Everything is going to be okay. I am grateful for the life I have.’
2. Kindness is the best thing for the soul.
Helping others will always be a good thing, and it can assist you in distracting yourself if your own inner thoughts and stresses are getting to be too much. Now more than ever we need to show the world a little love, and not let it fade away due to fear and doubt. Reach out to an elderly neighbour, create a social bubble with a struggling friend. But also, never forget to be kind to yourself – you are the centre of your Universe and you need looking after too!
3. Always stay connected to friends, family, spirit and the Universe.
Though lockdown is easing, some people still have to self-isolate due to age or medical conditions. Check up on these people as often you can, even if you don’t know them all that well, as they may be struggling with loneliness or anxiety. Also, staying social is the best way to feel a little more normal. Chatting to friends, catching up with family, it all makes a huge difference to your spiritual and mental health. Don’t underestimate the power of a good gab!
4. Pick up a hobby that could help you reconnect with your spirituality.
If you didn’t have time before, you certainly do now! If you’re feeling disconnected, try; reading, yoga, tarot, crystals, meditation, personal rituals, journaling, art, and anything else that you’ve always wanted to try but never could before.
5. Take a breather.
Everything I’ve covered is of course important, but it is just as important to sometimes allow yourself a break. Turn off the constant news cycles, turn off the mind a little and allow yourself some lazy time to melt into a good tv-show, film or, of course, book (published by us of course!). Over-working your brain is over-working your spirit, and it’s important to take the time to just breathe and find some time for yourself. And don’t feel guilty for having a do-nothing day – sometimes that’s self-care too!
Different things work for different people, you may not connect with any of this advice, but that’s fine. Listen to what the Universe is telling you, and you will always know what is right.
If you’re a keyworker and you just simply don’t have the time for any of this, there’s no pressure – we’re proud of you, grateful for you, and the Universe loves you for everything you do.
Remember to listen to what your soul needs; stay safe, stay kind, and believe in yourself and your ability to make it through, no matter what.
Sending all my love out,
Marianne
